Partir de l'indispensable bibliographie commentée que propose Angus Calder dans The People's War. Londres : Cape, 1969. L'unique reproche qu'on peut lui adresser, c'est qu'elle date de 1969 et n'a pas été remise à jour dans les dernières rééditions brochées [Pimlico Paperbacks 1995]. Fort utiles pistes également dans Marwick, Arthur : Britain in the Century of Total War. Londres : The Bodley Head, 1968. Très copieuses indications bibliographiques, malheureusement dispersées dans les notes, dans le beaucoup plus récent et remarquable ouvrage (aux dates trompeuses dans le titre) de Peter Hennessy . Never Again : Britain 1945-1951. Londres : Cape, 1992 [Vintage Paperbacks 1993]. Outre ces trois ouvrages fondamentaux, on pourra utilement consulter :
